Republican Presidential Straw Poll Results

On Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008, local registered Republicans in Upper Dublin gathered to discuss the various positions of the candidates running for the Republican nomination for President and to cast straw votes for their favorite candidate. The evening was a success as many people took the occasion to discuss politics on national and state candidates over hors d'oeurves and drinks.

The local republicans were invited before the evening to go to the Upper Dublin Republican Committee’s web site to obtain links to all of the candidates.  Many people unable to attend e-mailed their regrets and comments concerning their preferred nominee.

The results of the evening’s voting were:

John McCain 28%
Rudy Giuliani 25%
Mitt Romney 17%
Ron Paul 17%
Duncan Hunter 7%
Mike Huckabee 3%

The evening was enhanced with the attendance of State Senator Stewart Greenleaf, State Representative Thomas Murt and Assistant District Attorney Todd Stevens. Stevens is a candidate for the 151st State Representative’s seat. Also in attendance were Lee Falgoust and Frank Szabo, two of those investigating the possibility of running for the 13th Congressional seat, who discussed the issues with the local republicans.
